The

Teddy

the comfort of nostalgia

The inspiration for this design emerged from a nostalgic moment captured on an old VHS tape—one where I’m just a toddler, barely able to walk, chasing our neighbor's cat around the house with my sister. In this childhood memory, I’m wearing a white sweater adorned with a large teddy bear on the back. This simple yet poignant image struck me as a perfect symbol to channel into a new creation. Growing up, my favorite plushie was Winnie the Pooh, a piece of my upbringing that I still cherish today. As I designed this garment, I sought to recreate that feeling of childlike wonder, warmth and comfort.

This garment features an oversized sweater silhouette that extends to the length of a dress. The waistline is subtly cinched with two small buttons placed on the front sides, accompanied by matching button loops at the side seam. However, the real focal point of this piece is the large, handmade teddy bear embroidery on the back, that took me over 50 hours to complete. The bear is playfully chasing a bee, a direct homage to Winnie the Pooh's endearing affection for honey, symbolizing both childhood nostalgia and a love of nature.

This design is a heartfelt tribute to a time when simple joys, like chasing a cat or cuddling with a plush bear, defined the world. Through this piece, I’ve been able to capture the innocence and warmth of that memory, infusing it with a modern, wearable form.
